Marvin grows up on a farm and loves animals, but as he enters adulthood, he becomes involved in violence and crime. He is sent to prison, where he feels alone and lost until the Friends for Folks group brings dogs in for inmates to train. Marvin trains Star to be a search and rescue dog and she excels, leading eventually to Marvin being granted a second chance.

A lovely story for very young children. More important, it benefits the Friends for Folks program. Dogs and humans deserve a second chance, and such prison dog programs offer it.
